Why renewables?
There is an increased need of resorting to green and renewable resources of energy in combination with the traditional use of fossil fuels. Energy scenario today shows an estimated requirement of 400,000 MW of electric power against the present generation capacity of 130,000 MW by year 2030 in order to achieve energy independence. Renewable energy will never run out and is available to all individuals in equal amounts regardless of their location. It is reliable and economical form of energy that can be tapped and efficiently used on a long term basis. Renewable sources of energy from biomass, wind, wave, tidal, solar and hydro are the future of heat and power generation. Renewable resources are the key to guaranteeing long term security of supply, fulfilling rural diversification opportunities and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
