Yeah…its Value for Money (VFM) and Value for Time (VFT) for the recent 3 movies I watched on the big screen. Offbeat and refreshing parallel cinema.
The Namesake: based on a novel by Jhumpa Lahiri and directed by our very talented Mira Nair is a simple movie touching upon cross cultural differences, the Indian heritage and value system etc. The story pans between Kolkatta and the New York where the brand new couple move and start their life together. With Tabu and Irfan at their usual best, this movie is a must watch.
Provoked: Inspired by a true life incident where a wife kills her abusive husband post he pushes her to the brink of misery. Jag Mundhra, a fresh NRI director certainly deserves an applause for handling the sensitive subject like this and making it reach a form it truly deserved. Aishwarya proved for once that she has it in her. Brilliant acting. Naveen Andrews will make audience hate him to the core, so certainly he did his job well. Again a must watch.
Bheja Fry: What a refreshing change! You will simply love it. Directed by a fresh director from Mumbai, this movie is filled with moments to tickle your funny bone (if you have one!). Vinay surely takes the cake. The detailing with which he played his role is simply marvelous. A talented Ranveer got completely wasted in this movie. Though the movie is a direct take from a French movie Le Diner De Cons (The dinner game) you must not miss this hilarious flick. Time to unwind and release some stress.
